Louis de Bernières had a variety of jobs before writing full time. His most famed novel, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, won the Commonwealth Writers Prize and sold 2.5 million copies in the UK. His novels include Birds Without Wings, A Partisan’s Daughter and a children’s story; Red Dog. He is also a poet and musician.
